The Friends of McKinney Field is a community effort to help develop solutions for the playing surface of McKinney Field in Grafton WV. With the increased use of the field by Football, Soccer, Band, and other high school and middle school sports the field is not able to withstand the continued use.
The Friends of McKinney Field are looking at options that would allow a turf field to be installed in order to support the 60-80 events that are held on the field annually.
"Our goal is not just to do this for the football team...It is for our high school soccer program...It is for our 400 youth soccer participants...It is for the middle school football program, and Pop Warner Football...It is for the band... I want to see a centralized community athletic complex right here at Grafton High School," stated John Bord.

This is our field during heavy use and rain. In this condition the band cannot perform, the sports team's safety is a concern, and no teams can practice on this field.
We want the children of Taylor County to have a field they are proud of and allows them to stay competitive with other team's in our area. We want to allow our athletes and musicians to have the feeling of pride when the walk out onto McKinney Field.
The “Friends of McKinney Field” are doing their best to find a way to keep Taylor County children safe, while on the field at GHS.
